OPAL ROSE:THE DOOM & B QUEEN OF THE DAMNED

"In the beginning I was witnessing you creating a space and doing what you do and then I felt like this experience emitted from you and started filling the whole space and suddenly everything was quieter until it was just your voice and your music. There was so much going on in that space, all the art and dogs and weird social dynamics, there was a lot for you to come in on but I felt like you really did touch the whole space." --Emma King

Opal Rose's Strange Fruit

DC's Opal Rose recently teamed up with Triple Threat to create a fantastic electro-RnB cover of the jazz classic "Strange Fruit" (on Brave New Breed). The two are developing a sound they're calling "Doom&B," and the track is an epic journey. A run through jungle drums launches the vocal to flight over the canopy of rainforest instruments and insects. I get the impression Opal has emerged from some ancient haunted psychadelic pyramid. And I love the ending, hinting at a space launch, easing the listener into oblivion. Look for more from Opal and her collaborators in the comming months. --Natan Press

VIDEO PREMIERE: “TOTAL CONTROL” FROM OPAL ROSE

"THE NEWEST RELEASE FROM THE BROOKLYN ARTIST “EVOKES A FEELING OF SEXUAL EMPOWERMENT AND EXPLORES THE JOURNEY OF BEING DEEPLY ATTRACTED TO A LOVER”

"... Bronx-born, Brooklyn-based artist Opal Rosereached in the wake of a painful, mid-pandemic breakup as, after dealing with the hurt and the trauma, she moved on, discovering herself and finding freedom in the process. It’s this feeling she expertly and artistically channeled into an exploration of passion, power and sexuality in the form of new single “Total Control,” and it’s the red- and blue-hued music video for this track that I’m thrilled to premiere here!"
